Samsung Galaxy Note5 - Factory Data Reset (Powered On)

A factory data reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync.

Caution Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary and review this need to know info before proceeding to prevent the potential loss of important data (e.g., contacts, music, pictures, downloaded apps, etc.).

Note Notes:

  1. From a Home screen navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings.
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Backup and reset.
  3. Tap Factory data reset.
    Note If troubleshooting third-party apps, disable (uncheck) the Automatic restore option.
  4. Tap Reset phone.
    Note If presented, enter the current passcode, unlock pattern or provide fingerprint.
  5. Tap DELETE ALL.
    Note Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
    Note If applicable, set up your device.
