Change Device Password - Samsung Galaxy Note5

Note If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.

  1. From a Home screen tap Apps Apps icon.
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. From the Device section, tap Lock screen and security.
  4. Tap Screen lock type.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password or pattern.
  5. Tap one of the following:

 

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created then utilized to unlock the device.

  1. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-draw the pattern then tap OK.
  3. Set a backup PIN.

Fingerprint

Note Notes:

  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • A maximum of three fingerprints can be saved on the device.

 

  1. If presented, read the Disclaimer then tap OK.
  2. Using on-screen prompts as a guide, swipe finger downward over the Home button (oval button located below the display) 10 times.
  3. Tap Done (located on the bottom).
  4. From the Create password prompt, enter a password (4 to 16 characters) to use as an alternative to your fingerprint then tap CONTINUE.
  5. From the Confirm password prompt, re-enter the password then tap OK.

PIN

Note A PIN is created then utilized to unlock the device.

  1. Enter a numeric PIN (4 -16 digits) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.

  1. Enter a password (4 -16 characters) then tap CONTINUE.
