Verizon Messages - Tablet Calling - Initial Activation

Note Notes:

  • Ensure HD Voice is activated on the primary number and Wi-Fi is enabled on the endpoint (tablet).
  • No Minutes of Use (MOU) or Data charges apply when receiving or originating a Voice/Video Call over Wi-Fi in the US.
  • While traveling internationally no charges apply to calls made back to the US.


  1. Download Verizon Messages (Message+) from the Apple App Store® or Google Play™ Store.
    Note Tablet calling is supported on the following operating systems:
    • iOS 8.4.1+
    • Android 4.4+
  2. Launch the app then tap Start Messaging.
    Tap Start Messaging
  3. Enter your phone's 10-digit mobile number then tap Next (upper-right).
    Note You cannot use the tablet's mobile number.

  4. Use your tablet's camera to scan the QR code that was sent via text message to the mobile number entered.
    Note Existing Message+ users need Integrated Calling features on the primary line.

  5. If prompted to set up a public profile do one of the following:
    • Enter a name and/or avatar for your public profile then tap Save.
    • Tap I don't want a public profile then tap Done.
  6. From the 'WELCOME TO MESSAGE+' screen, tap Close X (upper-right).
  7. From the 'Good News' screen, tap Enable Calling.
  8. For e911 address entry chose one of the following options:
    Note This info gets transmitted to the emergency dispatcher for all 911 calls made on Wi-Fi network. If address validation fails, enter a valid address.
    • Tap Use Current Location for address based off GPS location.
    • Manually enter the address.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Review the disclaimer note for additional info then tap I AGREE.
    Note Repeat steps 1-6 to add additional tablets up to five total.
