Prior to completing a factory data reset, view this info to ensure apps and settings are backed up.

Note Notes:

  • When attempting to determine whether a third-party app is the cause of an operating system or app issue, ensure Automatic restore is disabled prior to a performing a factory data reset.
  • Here's how to check what software version your device is running.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    Note These instructions only apply to the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Accounts > Backup and reset.
    Note For software version 7.1.1 or earlier, navigate: Settings > Accounts.
  3. From the Google account section, ensure Back up my data is on Switch on.
  4. Tap Automatic restore to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
