iPhone Upgrade with Previous Software Version - Apple

Note Notes:

  • If you are unable to "Restore from Backup" when activating a new iPhone, it is possible that you have an older version of software on your new device than on your previous one. 
  • To verify the software version, navigate to Settings > General > About and view the info in the Version field.


  1. Activate your new phone:
  2. Once activation is complete, navigate to: Settings > General > Reset.
  3. Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
    Note Enter your passcode and restrictions passcode if prompted.
  4. Tap Erase iPhone.
  5. Enter your Apple ID and password then tap Erase.
  6. Once reset is complete, choose Restore from Backup during the setup process.
