Turn Phone Storage Encryption On / Off - The all new HTC One® (M8)

Note This device supports full disk encryption of internal storage by protecting content with a password should the device be lost or stolen.

Caution Caution:

  • Device encryption may take an hour or more to complete.
  • Don't interrupt encryption process as doing so causes data to be lost.
  • The device can only be unencrypted by performing a factory data reset.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Apps icon Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings.
    Note If unavailable, tap the Dropdown menu Applications dropdown menu icon (located in the upper-left) then select Alphabetical. If still unavailable, refer to Manage App Icons.
  3. From the DEVICE section, tap Storage & USB.
  4. Tap Phone storage encryption to enable or disable.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    Note If enabling, tap NEXT then follow on-screen prompts to complete setup.
