Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) - Set Up Device

Note Notes:

  • Ensure the SIM card is inserted if performing first time (out-of-the-box) setup.
  • Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).
  • This device can only be activated on another network after 12 months from initial activation.

 

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge) until the Samsung logo appears then release.
  2. Tap the appropriate language then tap NEXT (located on the lower-right).
  3. From the Phone activation screen, tap NEXT.
    Note If needed, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  4. If presented, from the "Verify your account" screen, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on the device.
  5. From the Add your account (Google) screen, navigate: SKIP > SKIP.
  6. From the Name screen, enter the first and last names then tap NEXT.
  7. From the "Lock type" screen, tap Not now.
  8. From the Google services screen, tap any of the following service switches to enable (in the blue position) or disable (in the gray position) then tap NEXT.

  9. From the Email setup screen, tap SKIP.
  10. From the Personalize your phone screen tap SKIP.
    Note To add a Samsung account after initial setup, from a Home screen navigate: Settings > Accounts > Add account > Samsung account.
    Note To use Samsung Smart Switch after initial setup, complete the following steps:
    1. Refer to Transfer Content with Samsung Smart Switch™ USB Connector for instructions on how to set up the devices for transfer.
    2. After preparing the devices, from a Home screen navigate: Settings > Backup and reset > Smart Switch.
  11. From the Ready to go screen tap Got it.
