HTC 10™ - Activate / Set Up Device

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following::

  • Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).
  • To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  • Wi-Fi Calling settings don't transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. You need to enable W-Fi Calling manually if you want to use it.

  1. From the Welcome screen, select the appropriate language then tap NEXT.
    Note Allow several seconds for activation to complete.
  2. From the Phone Activation screen, tap NEXT or tap Activate Now (if available).
    Note If prompted, enter the last 4 digits of the account owner's social security number or the billing password.
    Note If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.
  3. To continue, review the Terms of use and tap any of the following services to enable or disable then tap NEXT > AGREE.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Share my precise location
    • Share my personal usage data
  4. From the Google Sign in screen, tap SKIP > SKIP.
  5. From the Protect your phone screen, tap No, thanks then tap SKIP > SKIP ANYWAY.
  6. From the Google services screen, tap any of the following services to enable Switch on icon or disable Switch off icon then tap AGREE.
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data
  7. From the Verizon Cloud screen, tap SKIP > NOT NOW.
  8. From the Email accounts screen, tap SKIP.
  9. From the Setup Wizard screen, review the summary then tap DONE.
