Manage Data Usage - ASUS ZenPad™ Z8

To change the data usage cycle on your device, view data usage and set data warnings and restrictions, view this info.

Caution Data usage info provided by the device may differ from actual usage. For data usage info provided by Verizon Wireless, refer to the My Verizon website.

Set Mobile Data Limit

Caution Mobile data (cellular data) is disabled upon reaching the specified data usage level indicated by the orange limit line. To continue to utilize apps dependent upon a data connection (e.g., Browser, Email, Market, etc.), a Wi-Fi connection can be used or Mobile data must be manually re-enabled (overage charges may apply).

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. From the Wireless & Networks section, tap Data usage.
  3. Under the Usage section, tap Limit to turn on Switch on.
  4. On the "Limiting data usage" screen, set the data limit and select GB or MB (e.g., 5.0 GB, etc.) then tap OK.

Set Mobile Data Warning

Note A notification message appears upon reaching the specified data usage level indicated by the black warning line.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. From the Wireless & Networks section, tap Data usage.
  3. Tap Alert me to turn on Switch on.
  4. On the "Data usage alert" screen, set the data limit and select GB or MB (e.g., 2.0 GB, etc.) then tap OK.

Change Data Usage Cycle

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. From the Wireless & Networks section, tap Data usage.
  3. Under the Mobile section, tap Billing cycle to change when the data limits reset.
  4. Tap Billing cycle.
  5. From the "Usage cycle reset date" prompt, select the cycle date then tap Set.
    Note Refer to the My Verizon website for billing cycle date.

View Data Usage by App

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. From the Wireless & Networks section, tap Data usage.
  3. Under the Mobile section, tap Details: Mobile data usage.
  4. Tap an app (below the usage graph).
  5. View the usage info (e.g., Total, Background, etc.).

Restrict Data Usage by App

Note Some apps depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. From the Wireless & Networks section, tap Data usage.
  3. Under the Mobile section, tap Details: Mobile data usage.
  4. Tap an app (below the usage graph).
  5. Tap Background data to turn on Switch on.
