Apple® iPhone® - Add a Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

Caution Caution:

  • Virtual Private Network (VPN) settings may not allow the device to connect to an unsecured Wi-Fi connection.
  • The device may not indicate that a Wi-Fi connection has been ended due to this restriction.
  • If available, the device resumes a 3G/4G connection and data usage may be incurred.

Note The steps below don't apply to iPhone 4.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > General > VPN.
  2. Tap Add VPN Configuration.
