Apple® iPhone® - Block / Unblock Numbers

Note Notes:

  • Calls and messages from contacts or phone numbers added to the block list are automatically ignored. Call are forwarded to voicemail and messages are not delivered.
  • The setting allows the user to prevent the device from responding to a call or receiving a message. This can be configured for incoming calls or FaceTime calls.
  • This setting requires software version iOS7 or later.
  • The info below applies to the following models:
    • iPhone X / XS / XS Max / XR
    • iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
    • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
    • iPhone SE
    • iPhone 6 / 6 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus
    • iPhone 5 / 5c / 5s
    • iPhone 4 / 4s

Block a Contact

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon Phone icon.
  2. Tap Favorites or Recent (lower-left).
    Note Alternatively, tap Contacts then tap the preferred contact (then skip to step 4).
  3. Tap the Info icon Information icon (next to the name or number to be blocked).
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the screen then tap Block this caller.
    Note To unblock, tap Unblock this caller.
  5. Tap Block Contact.

Block Multiple Contacts

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings Settings icon > Phone.
  2. Tap Call Blocking & Identification.
  3. Tap Block Contact, then enter preferred contact(s) by typing in search box or scrolling through list.
    Note To unblock, tap Edit (upper-right), then tap red minus icon Red minus icon and tap Unblock to confirm.
