Perform a Device Restore via iTunes - Apple® iPhone®

Here's how to complete a device restore that may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync.

Note Caution:

  • Don't disconnect the device from the computer during the process.
  • Perform a restore only if absolutely necessary as it removes all data including:
    • Email accounts
    • System and app data
    • App settings
    • Downloaded apps
    • Music, pictures and videos (It's recommended to back up this data)

 

Note Good to Know:

  • An alternate method is available if the device can be powered on and is responsive.
  • The steps below apply to the following models:
    • iPhone X / XS / XS Max / XR

    • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
    • iPhone SE
    • iPhone 6 / 6 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus

Note Allow several minutes for the reset and reboot processes to complete.
Note If you can't restore your device, try placing it into Recovery Mode.
