Pixel™, Phone by Google - Activate / Set Up Device

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Note Notes:

  • This device comes with the SIM card already inserted.
  • Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).
  • To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  • Wi-Fi Calling settings don't transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. You need to enable W-Fi Calling manually if you want to use it.

Bring Your Own Device from Another Carrier Activation Method

Verizon Wireless Device

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge) until the Google logo appears then release.
  2. Select the appropriate language option then tap LET'S GO.
    Note Allow several seconds for activation to complete.
  3. From the Welcome screen, select one of the following:
    • Copy your data
    • Set up as new
  4. If presented with a 'Connect to Wi-Fi' screen, tap "Connect to Wi-Fi later", then tap CONTINUE.
  5. If presented, either connect the supplied cable from the old Android device to the new one or tap "Other ways to copy data" and follow the instructions.
    Note If "other ways to copy data" is selected, follow the onscreen instructions to copy content from another Android device, an iPhone, or the cloud.
  6. From the "Get connected" screen tap Use cellular network for setup.
    Note If presented with "possible data charges" screen, tap CONTINUE.
  7. If presented, from the "Verify your account" screen, enter a Google email address then tap NEXT or tap SKIP to set up at a later time.
    Note If SKIP is chosen, on the "Skip account setup?" screen , tap SKIP.
  8. Enter your password then tap NEXT.
  9. To continue, review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then tap I AGREE.
  10. From the "Unlock with fingerprint" screen, tap Skip.
    Note If presented with device protection warning, tap SKIP ANYWAY.
  11. If presented with "Back up to Google Drive", tap OK.
  12. From the "Google services" screen, select the desired options then tap NEXT.
  13. From the "Meet your personal Google assistant" screen, tap CONTINUE.
  14. From the "permissions" screen, select which permissions to allow then tap YES I'M IN or to skip, tap No Thanks.
    Note If the Assistant is selected, tap Get Started to set up voice recognition or tap "Do it later".
  15. If presented, tap Done.
  16. From the "Anything else?" screen, select an option to enter more information or tap ALL SET.
