First time setup and activation - out of the box experience - LG V20™

Note This device comes with the SIM card already inserted.

Caution Are you upgrading from an existing Verizon Wireless device? Yes or No.

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button (located on the back) until the LG logo appears then release.
  2. Select the appropriate language option then tap NEXT (located in the lower-right).
  3. If presented with the "Verify your account" screen, enter the Account PIN then tap NEXT.
    Note See Account PIN FAQs for additional info.
  4. On the 'Ready to activate' screen, follow the instructions regarding your old device then tap ACTIVATE NOW.
    Note Allow up to 5 minutes for activation to complete.
  5. From the 'Phone activation' screen, tap NEXT.
  6. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, tap SKIP to skip adding a network, or tap the network in the list to which you want to connect, then enter the password, tap CONNECT, then tap NEXT.
  7. From the 'Welcome to your VS995' screen, tap Set up as new or tap Copy your data to transfer data from a different device.
  8. From the 'Google Sign in' screen, Add an Existing Google Account or Create a New Google Account.
    Note If you don't want to add a Google account now, tap SKIP.
  9. From the 'Add your fingerprint' screen, select one of the following, then tap NEXT:
  10. From the Verizon Cloud screen, tap Next to complete setup.
  11. From the Email setup screen, add your email account(s). Click here to see how.
  12. From the 'Ready to go!' screen, tap GOT IT!.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Verizon Cloud

  1. Tap the items you would like Verizon Cloud to back up then tap Next.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
  2. Choose how you would like Verizon Cloud to back up content:
    • Wi-Fi Only
    • Both Wi-Fi and Mobile Networks
  3. Tap Done with Cloud.

Email Setup

  1. Tap the account type.
  2. Enter the Email address and password then tap NEXT.
    Note Depending upon the email account type, the available options may vary.
    Note If Corporate was selected, then complete these steps.
  3. Select the items to sync then tap NEXT.
  4. Enter the appropriate info (e.g., Username, Password,Security type, etc.) then tap NEXT.
  5. Enter the appropriate info (e.g., SMTP server, Port, Security type, etc.) then tap NEXT.
  6. Configure Account options as appropriate then tap NEXT.
  7. Enter an account name if desired then tap NEXT.
    Note If presented, ensure a name is entered for outgoing messages.
  8. Tap DONE WITH EMAIL.

Corporate Email Setup (Exchange Active Sync)

  1. Enter your corporate email address and password then tap NEXT (located in the lower-right).
    Note If set up is unsuccessful, tap to go back, tap Manual Setup then set up manually (begin with step 4).
  2. If presented with an Activation prompt, review the info then tap OK to continue.
  3. If presented with a Remote security administration prompt, tap OK to continue.
  4. Configure the account options (e.g., Period to sync Email, Sync schedule, etc.) as necessary then tap NEXT.
  5. If presented with an "Activate device administrator" screen, tap Activate.
    Note Follow the on-screen steps to complete the applied security policy (e.g., Set up password, Device encryption).
    Note Device encryption can exceed 60 minutes.
  6. If desired, enter an account name then tap NEXT.

Manually Set Up Corporate Email Setup (Exchange Active Sync)

Note Contact your Exchange / IT admin for assistance with server info and credentials.

  1. Ensure that the appropriate info is entered into the following fields:
    • Email address
    • Domain\username
    • Password
    • Exchange server
  2. If applicable, configure the following then tap NEXT:
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Use secure connection (SSL)
    • Use client certificate
  3. If presented with an Activation prompt, review the info then tap OK to continue.
  4. If presented with a Remote security administration prompt, tap OK to continue.
  5. Configure the account options (e.g., Period to sync Email, Sync schedule, etc.) as necessary then tap NEXT.
  6. If presented with an 'Activate phone administrator' screen, tap Activate.
    Note Follow the on-screen steps to complete the applied security policy (e.g., Set up password, Device encryption).
    Note Device encryption can exceed 60 minutes.
  7. If desired, enter an account name then tap Next.

Add an Existing Google Account

  1. Enter the email address then tap NEXT.
  2. Enter the email password then tap NEXT.
  3. Review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then tap I agree.

Create a New Google Account

  1. Enter the appropriate name into the following fields then tap Next.
    • First name
    • Last name
  2. Enter the appropriate info into the birthdate and gender fields then tap Next.
  3. Locate the Username field and enter the desired username then tap Next.
  4. Enter then re-enter the preferred password then tap Next.
    Note The password must be at least 8 characters.
  5. From the 'Add phone number?' screen, tap Yes, I'm in to proceed or tap Skip if you don't want to provide a phone number.
  6. From the 'Privacy and Terms' screen, review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then tap I agree to accept.
  7. Tap Next.

Set Up Fingerprints

Note Use your fingerprint to access the device.

  1. Tap Set up fingerprint then tap Next.
  2. Select a secondary method to unlock the phone:
  3. When prompted, place a finger on the Power key to scan your fingerprint then follow the on-screen prompts.
  4. When finished adding fingerprints, tap OK.
  5. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap I AGREE.
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data

Set Up Knock Code

Note Knock Code allows you to tap a pattern to unlock the screen without turning it on.

  1. From the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap Knock Code.
  2. From the Secure start-up screen, tap Require knock code to turn on phone or No, thanks then tap CONTINUE.
  3. If presented with Knock Code tutorial, tap NEXT.
  4. From set knock code, enter your pattern (6-10 taps on at least 3 different squares) then tap DONE.
  5. Confirm the pattern then tap CONFIRM.
  6. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap I AGREE.
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data
  7. From the 'Google Assistant' screen, tap NEXT, then at the next screen review the required settings and tap TURN ON to continue.
    Note If you'd prefer to setup Google Assistant at a later time, tap SKIP (lower-right).

Set Up Pattern Lock

Note An unlock pattern is created then utilized to unlock the device.

  1. From the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap Pattern.
  2. From the Secure start-up screen, tap Require pattern to turn on phone or No, thanks then tap CONTINUE.
  3. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap Continue.
  4. Re-draw the pattern then tap Confirm.
  5. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap I AGREE.
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data

Set Up PIN Lock

Note A PIN is created then utilized to unlock the device.

  1. From the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap PIN.
  2. From the Secure start-up screen, tap Require PIN to turn on phone or No, thanks then tap CONTINUE.
  3. Enter a numeric PIN (4 -16 digits) then tap NEXT.
  4. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  5. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap I AGREE.
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data

Set Up Password Lock

Note A password is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. From the 'Protect your phone' screen, tap Password.
  2. From the Secure start-up screen, tap Require password to turn on phone or No, thanks then tap CONTINUE.
  3. If presented with the 'Password policy' screen, tap OK.
  4. Enter a password (4 -16 characters) then tap NEXT.
  5. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  6. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap I AGREE.
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data

Existing Customers (Only Applies if Upgrading from a Verizon Device)

  1. Save Contacts and Content from your original phone using the Transfer Wizard
  2. If presented with the 'Verify your account' screen, enter the Account PIN then tap NEXT.
    Note See Account PIN FAQs for additional info.
  3. On the 'Ready to activate' screen, follow the instructions regarding your old device then tap ACTIVATE NOW.
  4. Turn off your original phone.
