Verizon Smart Family™ - My Verizon app - Add or Remove a Blocked Call or Contact

Caution A line can't make or receive calls or texts from a blocked contact.

Note To perform the steps below, you need to:

  • ensure the My Verizon app is installed and up to date as the following steps apply to the most recent version.
  • have an Android® device running 4.0 or higher or an Apple® iOS device running 10.0 or higher. For all other devices, visit to sign in and manage your account.
  • sign in using a My Verizon user ID or mobile number that has Account Owner or Manager access privileges.
  • ensure the child device is powered off prior to adding or removing blocks, restrictions, limits, etc.
    Note Changes to these items may take up to 15 minutes to appear on your account.

  1. From the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-left).
  2. Tap Account.

  3. Tap Verizon Smart Family.

  4. Select the appropriate mobile number.

  5. Tap Limit/Controls.

  6. Tap Block Contacts.

  7. Tap the following switches to turn on or off:
    Note The switch color may differ from the example depicted below.
    • Block outgoing *411 calls
    • Block restricted, unavailable, and private numbers

  8. Do one of the following:
    Note To add a blocked contact:
    1. Tap Add contact (at the bottom).
      Note You can block up to 20 contacts including private restrictions or unavailable contacts.
    2. From the Phone Number field, enter the 10-digit number.
    3. Tap Block contact.
    Note To remove a blocked contact, tap the X icon to the right of the corresponding number then tap Confirm.
