Verizon Jetpack® MiFi® 7730L - GPS over Wi-Fi

Note Notes:

  • The GPS over Wi-Fi setting allows the MiFi device to provide a GPS (NMEA) stream to a Windows or Mac computer.
    • This is only useful if running an app that is capable of utilizing a NMEA GPS stream (e.g., Microsoft Streets & Trips, etc.).
  • To utilize GPS over Wi-Fi, a driver must be installed on the computer.

  1. Access the Admin Web Interface.
  2. From the left menu, click Jetpack Settings.
  3. From the Jetpack tab, click GPS (located in the upper-right).
  4. If necessary, tap the GPS switch to turn on.
    Note If prompted, tap Confirm.
  5. If desired, tap Turn GPS off when the Jetpack restarts to turn on or off.
  6. If desired, click GPS over Wi-Fi (NMEA) (lower-left) to expand.
  7. Click Turn on GPS over Wi-Fi to turn on or off.
Note On when a check mark is present.
Note If turning on, tap Confirm then click Download GPS over Wi-Fi Drivers and follow step-by-step instructions to install drivers on the connected device.
  8. If applicable, enter the port number.
Note Typically the default value should be used.
  9. Click Save Changes (lower-right).

Note If GPS over Wi-Fi (NMEA) is enabled, launch the GPS-enabled app on the computer then configure it to utilize a NMEA port or GPS receiver.
Note Refer to the app's help menu or contact the app developer for assistance.
Note Once the app has found the NMEA port / GPS receiver, it shows 'Searching/Waiting for your location' until a GPS fix is obtained then displays the current GPS location.
