Verizon Smart Family™ - My Verizon app - View Data Usage

Note To perform the steps below, you must:

  • ensure the My Verizon app is installed and is up to date as the following steps apply to the most recent version.
  • have an Android™ device running 4.0 or higher or an Apple® iOS device running 10.0 or higher. For all other devices, visit to sign in and manage your account.


To view data usage, select your Smart Family role:
Note Parent and child views differ.

Child View

  1. From the My Verizon app, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-left).
  2. Tap Data Hub.
  3. Depending on your current usage, you'll see one of the following messages:
    • You have plenty of data remaining for the month.
    • You're running low on data.
    • You're almost out of data.
      Note Appears when amount of available data is 10% or less.
    • Surprise, your data limit just went up.
      Note Appears when a Parent line increases the data limit.
    • Heads up, your data limit just went down.
      Note Appears when the Parent line decreases the data limit.
    • You've used up all your data.
      Note Appears if the line has a hard limit. User can no longer use data unless Parent line increases the data limit.
    • You're in Safety Mode.
      Note Appears when the account enters Safety Mode.
    • You're unable to use data at this time.
      Note If a Parent line has set Time Limits, data doesn't work during the limit.
      Note The notification appears at the top of the screen. Tap Okay to acknowledge.
      Note The 'You're in a time limit.' status bar remains active for the duration of the limit.
  4. To view usage details, tap the Details tab.
    Note If talk and text limits exist, these can be viewed here (requires scrolling).
