Change Device Password - Samsung Galaxy J7 V / Galaxy J7

Note Notes:

  • If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.
  • A pattern, PIN or password must be set up to turn on factory reset protection.
    Note Changing screen lock to "None" or "Swipe" turns off this feature.

 

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up then navigate: Settings Settings icon > Lock screen.
  2. Tap Screen lock type.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  3. Tap one of the following:
    • None
      Note If prompted, review the notification regarding device protection then tap OK to confirm.
    • Swipe
    • Pattern
    • PIN
    • Password

 

Swipe

Note A lock screen is created requiring a left or right swipe to access the device.

If prompted, review the notification regarding device protection then tap OK to confirm.

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created to access the device.

  1. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Draw the same pattern again then tap CONFIRM.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE (located at the bottom):
    • Hide content
    • Notification icons only

PIN

Note A PIN is created to access the device.

  1. If presented with the PIN policy screen, tap OK.
  2. Enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap CONTINUE.
  3. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  4. If presented, select an option then tap DONE (located at the bottom):
    • Hide content
    • Notification icons only

Password

Note A password is created to access the device.

  1. If presented with the Password policy screen, tap OK.
  2. Enter a password (4 to 16 characters) then tap CONTINUE.
  3. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  4. If presented, select an option then tap DONE (located at the bottom):
    • Hide content
    • Notification icons only
