LG G6™ - Add a Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings Icon > Network & internet.
  2. Tap VPN then tap Basic VPN.
  3. Tap the Add icon + (upper-right).
  4. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap Change.
    Note Refer to Set Up Screen Lock (Pattern, PIN or Password only) for assistance.
  5. From the Name field, enter the appropriate name.
    Note Contact the VPN administrator for assistance with server info and credentials.
  6. From the Type field, tap the Dropdown menu Drop down menu icon (right) then select the VPN type:
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPSec RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
  7. Enter the Server address.
  8. Select an option:
    • PPP encryption (MPPE)
    • Show advanced options
  9. Enter a Username and Password.
  10. If desired, select Always-on VPN.
    Note Select when a check mark is present.
  11. Tap Save.
