Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ - Reset App

If your device crashes, resets itself or freezes, it may be caused by apps and this info may help.

Note Personal data such as browser bookmarks and other customized settings can be backed up to and restored from Google servers.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Apps Apps settings icon.
  3. Ensure All apps is selected.
    Note If needed, tap the Dropdown icon Dropdown menu iconthen select All apps.
  4. Locate then select the appropriate app.
    Note If system apps aren't visible, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (in the upper-right) > Show system apps.
  5. Tap FORCE STOP.
  6. Tap FORCE STOP to confirm.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Tap CLEAR DATA.
    Note Option may not be available for all apps.
    Note Resetting an app doesn't delete personal content (e.g., text messages, contacts, pictures, etc.).
  9. Tap DELETE to confirm.
