Pixel™, Phone by Google - Change Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Password

If you'd like to change the default password other devices use to connect to your Mobile Hotspot, check out the steps below.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings app icon > Network & Internet Network & Internet settings icon > Hotspot & tethering Hotspot and Tethering icon.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi hotspot then edit any of the following Hotspot settings:
    • Tap Hotspot name, enter the appropriate name then tap OK.
    • Tap Security then select the approriate security type (i.e., WPA2 PSK, none.).
    • Tap Hotspot Password, enter the preferred password then tap OK.
      Note Password must be at least 8 characters.
      Note The new password must be entered on the connecting device.
    • Tap Turn off hotspot automatically to turn on On icon or off Switch off.
    • Tap AP Band, select the approropriate band (i.e., 2.4 GHz Band, 5.0 GHz Band.) then tap Apply.
