If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

If you have set up a Samsung account and are activating after performing a factory data reset, you may be required to enter your Samsung username and password.

To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.

Wi-Fi Calling settings don't transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. You need to enable Wi-Fi Calling manually if you want to use it.

Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).

If powered off, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge) until the Samsung logo appears then release.

From the 'Start' screen, select the appropriate language then tap the Next icon
.

In order to enter setup, you must accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Tap the check boxes to select them then tap AGREE.

From the 'Phone activation' screen, tap NEXT.
Allow several seconds for activation to complete.

From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, tap SKIP (lower-right).

From the 'Google Sign in' screen, tap Skip > Skip (lower-left).

From the 'Name' screen, enter your name then tap NEXT.

From the 'Protect your phone' screen, select Not now then tap SKIP ANYWAY.

From the 'Google services' screen, tap any of the following services turn on
or off
then tap NEXT.

Use Google's location service to help apps

Improve location accuracy

Help improve your Android experience

From the 'Verizon Cloud' screen, tap SKIP then tap NOT NOW.

From the 'Email Setup' screen, tap SKIP.

From the 'Personalize your phone' screen, tap SKIP.
