Set Up Screen Lock - moto z2 play

Note Notes:

  • If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.
  • These steps can also be utilized to change your current screen lock setting.
  • A pattern, PIN or password must be set up to turn on factory reset protection.
    Note Changing screen lock to "None" or "Swipe" turns off this feature.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon Apps icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Security & Location Securiy & Location settings icon.
  3. From the Device security section, tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap None.
  5. If prompted, review the notification regarding device protection then tap YES, REMOVE to confirm.

Swipe

Note An lock screen requiring a left or right swipe is created to access the device.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon Apps icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Security & Location Securiy & Location settings icon.
  3. From the Device security section, tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap Swipe.
  5. If prompted, review the notification regarding device protection then tap YES, REMOVE to confirm.

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created to access the device.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon Apps icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Security & Location Securiy & Location settings icon.
  3. From the Device security section, tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap Pattern.
  5. From the 'Secure start-up screen', select one of the following options:
    • No
    • Yes
  6. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap CONTINUE.
  7. Draw the same pattern again then tap CONFIRM.
  8. If presented, select an option then tap DONE (lower-right).
    • Show all notification content
    • Hide sensitive notification content
    • Don't show notifications at all

Note A PIN is created to access the device.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon Apps icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Security & Location Securiy & Location settings icon.
  3. From the Device security section, tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap PIN.
  5. If presented with the PIN policy screen, tap OK.
  6. From the 'Secure start-up screen', select one of the following options:
    • No 
    • Yes
  7. Enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap CONTINUE.
  8. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  9. If presented, select an option then tap DONE (lower-right).
    • Show all notification content
    • Hide sensitive notification content
    • Don't show notifications at all

Note A password is created to access the device.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon Apps icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Security & Location Securiy & Location settings icon.
  3. From the Device security section, tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap Password.
  5. If presented with the Password policy screen, tap OK.
  6. From the 'Secure start-up screen', select one of the following options:
    • No
    • Yes
  7. Enter a password (4 to 16 characters) then tap CONTINUE.
  8. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  9. If presented, select an option then tap DONE (lower-right).
    • Show all notification content
    • Hide sensitive notification content
    • Don't show notifications at all
