Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 - Activate / Set Up Device

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:

 

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button until the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 screen appears then release.

  2. Select the appropriate language then tap the right Arrow icon.
    Note Allow several seconds for activation to complete.

  3. In order to enter setup, you must accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Tap the circles to select them then tap Next (lower-right).

  4. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, select a network then enter the password.
    Note If you choose 'Skip', you can add Wi-Fi networks after setup is complete.

  5. If presented with the 'Verify your account' screen, sign in with the Google account that was previously synced on the device, tap Next then tap 'Use new account' or 'Add previous account'.
    Note If adding your Google account, skip to step 10.

  6. If presented with the Tablet Activation screen, tap 'Next' or 'Activate Now' (if available).
    Note If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    Note If activating a new tablet on an existing phone number, ensure the old device is powered off.

  7. From the 'Bring your old data for quicker setup' screen, select one of the following options then tap Next:
    • Wireless
      Note Only available with Samsung Galaxy devices.
    • Cable and USB connector
      Note Bring data from another device (iPhone, Android, etc.)
    • Skip this for now

  8. Sign in to your existing Google™ account or create a new one.
    Note If you choose 'Skip', you can add a Google account after setup is complete.

  9. From the Google Welcome screen, tap I agree.
    Note To view the Google terms and conditions documents, tap the appropriate link to view then tap Close to continue.

  10. To import data from a device previously associated with this Google account, tap the preferred backup then follow the on-screen prompts.
    Note If no backups were found, tap Next.
    Note This option only appears if a Google account was added.

  11. From the 'Protect your tablet' screen, select an option.
    Note If you choose 'Not now', you can set up a screen lock or fingerprint recognition after setup is complete.
    Note This step appears after step 13 if a Google account wasn't added.

  12. If prompted with the Google Assistant screen, scroll to the bottom then tap 'Turn on' or 'No Thanks'.

  13. From the Trending screen, tap Next.

  14. From the 'Google Services' screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap Accept.
    • Back up to Google Drive
      Note This option only appears if a Google account was added.
    • Use location
    • Allow scanning
    • Send usage and diagnostic data

  15. From the 'Email setup' screen, select an email account type then enter your sign-in info.
    Note If you choose 'Skip', you can add a personal email account after setup is complete.

  16. From the 'Sign in to your Samsung account' screen, sign in to your existing account or create a new Samsung account.

  17. From the 'Setup Wizard is complete' screen, tap the preferred option to set up My Verizon Mobile or Verizon Cloud, follow the on-screen prompts then tap Done when finished.
