Move Music to Device - Android® Smartphone

This helps when you want to transfer or move your music files between your device and a computer/PC or memory card.

Caution Only DRM free or unprotected video can be transferred via this method.

Note If using a Macintosh computer, additional software is required in order to transfer files

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the supplied USB cable.
    1. If necessary, touch and hold the Status bar (area at the top of the phone screen with the time, signal strength, etc.) then drag to the bottom.
      Note The image below is merely an example.

    2. Tap the USB icon USB icon then select Media Device (MTP) (or File Transfer if MTP is unavailable).
      Note If necessary, select the current option (e.g., Charging, Photo Transfer, etc.) then tap Media Device or File Transfer.
  2. Launch File Explorer or Windows Explorer.
    Note Using the computer keyboard, press Windows+E (windows key logo+E) keys.
    Note Alternatively, right-click Start then click Open File Explorer or Open Windows Explorer.
  3. Using File or Windows Explorer, navigate: Model # of device > Internal shared storage > Music.
    Note If a microSD card is present, files can be transferred to that location by navigating: Model # of device > Card.
    Note Model of device will be listed under the Portable Devices section.
  4. Use the computer to copy music and other audio files into the folder.
    note For any accompanying artwork in JPEG format, rename the art file albumart.jpg and copy into the same folder as the music files.
  5. Disconnect the USB cable.
