ASUS ZenFone™ AR - Activate / Set Up Device

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:

  • Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).
  • To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.
  • Wi-Fi Calling settings don't transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. You need to enable W-Fi Calling manually if you want to use it.

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button until the ASUS logo appears then release.
  2. From the Welcome screen, select the appropriate language then tap NEXT.
    Note Allow several seconds for activation to complete.
  3. If presented with a Phone Activation screen, tap NEXT or tap ACTIVATE NOW (if available).
    Note If prompted, enter the last 4 digits of the account owner's social security number or the billing password.
    Note If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.
  4. If presented with a 'Set up your ASUS ZenFone AR' screen, tap Set up as new.
  5. If presented with a 'Verify your account' screen, sign in with the Google account that was previously synced on the device, tap NEXT then tap No.
  6. From the Add your Account (Google) screen, tap SKIP > SKIP.
  7. From the Google services screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap NEXT (may require scrolling to the bottom).
    • Use Google's location service to help apps
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Help improve your Android experience
  8. From the Name screen, enter the first and last name then tap NEXT.
  9. From the Protect your phone screen, tap No, thanks > NEXT > SKIP ANYWAY.
  10. From the Phone Activation screen, tap NEXT.
  11. From the Verizon Cloud screen, tap SKIP > NOT NOW.
  12. From the Email Accounts screen, tap SKIP (lower-right).
  13. From the Summary screen, tap GOT IT!.
