Set Up Device - Samsung Galaxy Note8

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:

 

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button until the Samsung Galaxy Note8 screen appears then release.

  2. From the Start screen, select the appropriate language then tap the right Arrow icon.

  3. From the Terms and Conditions screen, select (check) the following then tap AGREE (lower-right) to continue:
    Note Review the info before continuing.
    • Agree to all
    • Terms and Conditions
      Note Must be selected to continue.
    • Privacy Policy
      Note Must be selected to continue.
    • Diagnostic data
    Tap Agree
  4. If presented with the Phone Activation screen, tap NEXT or tap ACTIVATE NOW (if available).
    Note If prompted, enter the last 4 digits of the account owner's social security number or the billing password.
    Note If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.

  5. From the Set up Wi-Fi screen, select and connect to the desired network or tap SKIP (lower-right).

  6. From the Google Sign in screen, enter your Gmail address then tap Next.

  7. Enter the password then tap Next.

  8. From the Add phone number screen, tap Skip (lower-left).

  9. To continue, review the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy the tap I agree (lower-right).

  10. From the Choose a backup to restore screen select an option.
    • A device named backup
    • Don't Restore
    Tap a Setting
  11. From the Protect your phone screen, select No, thank you then tap SKIP > SKIP ANYWAY.

  12. From the Google services screen, select any of the following to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap I AGREE (scroll to the bottom).
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data
    Tap I Agree
  13. From the Google Assistant screen, tap SKIP.

  14. From the Verizon Cloud screen, tap SKIP (at the bottom) then tap NOT NOW (lower-left).

  15. From the Email setup screen, tap SKIP (lower-right).

  16. From the Personalize your phone screen, tap SKIP.
    Tap Skip
  17. From the Ready to go screen, tap GOT IT (lower-right).
    Tap Got It
