Google Pixel 2 - Reset App

If your device crashes, resets itself or freezes, it may be caused by apps and this info may help.

Note Personal data such as browser bookmarks and other customized app settings can be backed up to Google's servers.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings app icon > Apps & notifications Apps and notifications icon.
  3. Tap Right arrow icon See all xx apps.
  4. Locate then select the app you wish to reset.
    Note If system apps aren't visible, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right) > Show system.
    Note For Voicemail app troubleshooting, select the Phone app Phone icon then follow steps 5-9. Once reset you must activate Voicemail.
  5. Tap Force stop.
  6. Tap OK.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Tap Clear storage.
    Note This option may not be available for some apps.
    Note Resetting an app does not remove saved items on the device (texts, pictures, voicemails, etc.); however saved passwords for Wi-Fi, settings, backgrounds, etc. within the app itself may be reset.
  9. Tap OK.
