Turn VoiceOver On / Off - Apple® iOS

Note Notes:

  • The VoiceOver changes the gestures you use to control your device.
  • When enabled, you must use VoiceOver gestures to operate your device.
  • Screen gestures control what's selected:
    • Tap once to select an item.
    • Double-tap to activate the selected item.
    • Swipe using three fingers to scroll.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Accessibility.
    Note If not available, navigate: Settings > General > Accessibility. 
  2. Tap VoiceOver.
  3. Tap the VoiceOver switch (upper-right) to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
    Note If prompted with a pop-up, double-tap OK.

 

Note Additional ways to disable VoiceOver are available through Accessibility Shortcuts:

  1. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut.
    Note If unavailable, navigate: Settings > General > AccessibilityAccessibility Shortcut.
  2. Tap VoiceOver.
    Note Selected when a checkmark is present.
  3. When VoiceOver is enabled:
    • iPhone X and later models: Triple-click the side button (top right edge).
    • iPad models without a Home button: Triple-click the top button (top-right).
    • Other iPhone and iPad models with a Home button: Triple-click the Home button.
