Apple Watch® - Remove Device Password

Note The steps below apply to the following models:

  • Apple Watch® Series 3
  • Apple Watch® Series 4

If you can't unlock your Apple Watch, follow the steps below to remove your passcode.

Note Ensure your Apple Watch and the paired iPhone are kept close together when resetting from the iPhone Watch app.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Watch app icon Apple watch icon to open.
  2. Tap the My Watch tab.
  3. Tap General then tap Reset.
  4. Tap Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings.
  5. To confirm, tap Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings again to complete the Watch Reset.
    Note You may be required to enter your Apple ID password.
  6. When the process is complete, reactivate your Apple Watch.
    Note When prompted on your iPhone, tap Restore from backup.

Use Locked Watch

Note Connect the watch to its charger and keep connected while completing the steps below.

  1. Press and hold the Side button.

  2. When presented with passcode screen, press the Power Off slider firmly then release.
  3. Tap Erase all content and settings.
  4. When complete, reactivate your Apple Watch.
    Note When prompted on your iPhone, tap Restore from Backup.
