Apple® iPhone® - Manually Select Roaming Carrier

If you want to see how to manually choose a carrier if your iPhone is displaying 'No Service' or 'Searching' while roaming, view this info.

Note Notes:

  • Your iPhone is designed to work domestically and internationally.
  • If you're roaming and your iPhone displays 'No Service,' you can manually select a carrier; for more info on domestic and international carriers, visit this support page.
  • The steps below apply to the following models:
    • iPhone X / XS / XS Max / XR
    • iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
    • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
    • iPhone SE
    • iPhone 6 / 6 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus
    • iPhone 5 / 5c / 5s
    • iPhone 4s


  1. From a Home screen, navigate Settings Settings icon > Cellular Cellular Networks
  2. Tap Automatic switch to turn off Switch off icon.
  3. Once available networks appear, tap the desired carrier (e.g., Verizon, Vodafone, etc.).
    Note Allow up to 2 minutes for carrier listing.
  4. Look for signal bars Signal bars icon or a carrier name on the display to indicate that you have connected to the network.
