View / Restrict Data Usage by App - HTC One M9

Caution Some apps depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Apps icon Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings.
Note If unavailable, tap the Dropdown menu Applications dropdown menu icon (upper-left) then select Alphabetical. If still unavailable, refer to Manage App Icons.
  3. From the WIRELESS & NETWORKS section, tap Data usage.
  4. Tap Mobile data usage.
Note To see Wi-Fi data usage, tap Wi-Fi data usage in the Wi-Fi section.
  5. Tap an app (below the usage graph) then view the usage.
Note To restrict the app from using data in the background, tap the Background data switch to turn off Switch off.
  6. If presented, review the message then tap OK.
