Restrict Data Usage by App - The new Moto X™

Caution Some apps depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available.

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps Apps icon (located at the bottom).
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon.
  3. Tap Data usage Data usage Settings.
  4. Tap an app (located below the usage graph).
  5. Tap Restrict background data (located at the bottom; may require scrolling).
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
  6. To confirm, tap OK from the 'Restrict background data?' prompt.
