Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+ - Add Additional Fingerprints

Note Notes:

  • A fingerprint is used to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to four fingerprints can be registered on the device.


  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Lock screen.
  3. From the Looking for something else? section, tap Fingerprints.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap Add fingerprint.
    Note If presented, re-enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  5. Swipe your fingertip down over the sensor (back of the device; below the camera) to scan.
    Note View the on-screen tutorial for assistance.
    Note Repeat this step as necessary until the process is complete.
  6. Tap DONE (lower-right).
  7. From the Try it out screen, touch the fingerprint sensor to unlock.
