moto g6 - Screen Overlay Detected

Note Notes:

  • The 'Screen overlay detected' error is caused by conflict between a running app and a newly installed app requesting permission to display info on multiple screens (e.g., messengers, alerts, battery status, etc.)
  • As a security measure, apps designed for Android 6.x and higher ask for permission to access your phone.
  • These steps only apply to devices running Android 6.x (Marshmallow) and higher.

  1. From a Home screen, tap the Arrow up icon Arrow up icon to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Apps & notifications > Advanced.
  3. Tap Special app access.
  4. Tap Configure apps.
  5. Tap Display over other apps.
  6. Tap the appropriate app.
  7. Tap the applicable switch to turn on On indicator or off Off indicator:
Note Available switches vary depending upon device.
