Samsung Galaxy Note9 - Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

Note Notes:

  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to 4 fingerprints can be registered on the device.

 

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Biometrics and security.
  3. From the Biometrics section, tap Fingerprints.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. If presented, tap Continue, select a screen lock option (e.g., Pattern, PIN, Password) then follow the steps to complete the process.
    Note If necessary, refer to Set Up Screen Lock for assistance.
  5. Swipe your fingertip down over the fingerprint sensor (back of device).
    Note View the on-screen tutorial for assistance.
    Note Repeat this step as necessary until the process is complete.
    Note For greater accuracy, finger placement should vary slightly each time.
  6. Tap Done (lower-right).
  7. Follow the on-screen prompt to test your fingerprint.
