Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0) - Reset App

If your device crashes, resets itself or freezes, it may be caused by apps and this info may help.

Note Personal data such as browser bookmarks and other customized app settings can be backed up to Google's servers.

Reset Individual App

Note This option resets app preferences and deletes all data for a single app.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Apps.
  3. Ensure 'All' is selected (upper-left).
    Note If necessary, tap the Dropdown icon Dropdown menu icon (upper-left) then select All.
  4. Locate then select the appropriate app.
    Note If system apps aren't visible, tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right) > Show system apps.
  5. Tap Force stop.
  6. To confirm, tap Force stop.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Tap Clear data.
    Note This option may not be available for some apps.
    Note Resetting an app or clearing data storage may delete saved info within the app (e.g., calendar events may be lost).

Reset All App Preferences

Note This option resets app preferences for the following (app data isn't affected):

  • Disabled apps
  • Notification restrictions for apps
  • Default apps
  • Background data restrictions for apps
  • Permission restrictions

 

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Apps.
  3. Ensure All is selected (upper-left).
    Note If necessary, tap the Dropdown icon Dropdown menu icon (upper-left) then select All.
  4. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right).
  5. Tap Reset app preferences.
  6. To confirm, review the info then tap Reset.
