Google Pixel 3 - Add a Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

Note Contact the VPN admin for assistance with server info and credentials.

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up to display all apps.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings app icon > Network & internet Network and Internet icon > Advanced.
  3. Tap VPN VPN icon.
  4. Tap the Add icon Add icon (upper-right).
  5. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap SET LOCK.
    Note Refer to Set Up Screen Lock (Pattern, PIN or Password only) for assistance.
  6. From the Name field, enter the appropriate name.
  7. From the Type field, tap the Dropdown menu Dropdown menu icon (right) then select the VPN type:
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPSec RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
  8. Enter the required info into the applicable fields then tap Save (lower-right).
    Note If applicable, tap Show advanced options to configure the following:

    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
