LG V40 ThinQ™ - Activate / Set Up Device

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:


  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button (right edge) until the LG logo appears then release.
  2. Select the appropriate Language then tap NEXT.

  3. From the 'Phone Activation' screen, tap Next.
    Note If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    Note If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off.

  4. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, select a network or tap SKIP.
    Note If you choose 'Skip', you can add Wi-Fi network after setup is complete.

  5. From the 'Copy apps & data' screen tap an option:
    • Copy your data (follow the prompts)
    • Set up as new

  6. From the 'Sign in' screen, enter the Gmail username then tap NEXT.
    Note If you choose 'Skip', you can add your Google account after setup is complete.
    Note Tap Create account to sign in with a new Gmail account.

  7. Enter the password then tap NEXT.

  8. Read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then tap I agree to continue.

  9. From the 'Secure your phone' screen, tap No thanks then tap Next.
    Note If you choose 'No, thanks', you can add a screen lock or set up fingerprint or face recognition after setup is complete.

  10. From the 'Your Assistant is a tap away' screen tap CONTINUE.

  11. Enable any of the following then tap I AGREE:
    Note Enabled when the service is turned on On Switch.
    • Back up to Google Drive
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data

  12. From the 'Verizon Cloud' screen, tap Skip then tap Not Now.
    Note If you choose 'Skip', you can set up Verizon Cloud after setup is complete.

  13. From the 'Digital Secure' screen, read the Terms and conditions then tap ACCEPT.
  14. From the 'Ready to go!' summary screen, tap Got It!.
