Palm - Set Up Device

Note Palm is a companion device linked with your Apple® iPhone® or Android® smartphone so you can stay connected while on the go. For more info, view this Activate your device video.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:

  • Video Camera  Icon For a quick overview watch this video.
  • Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).

 

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge of the device) until the Palm logo appears then release.
  2. Select the appropriate language then tap GO.
  3. If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    Note If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.
  4. After reviewing the Term and Conditions, select the appropriate options then tap Agree to continue setup.
  5. From the 'Phone Activation' screen, tap NEXT or tap ACTIVATE NOW (if available).
    Note If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
  6. From the 'Wi-Fi' screen, setup Wi-Fi or choose SKIP.
  7. If you'd like to restore your info from a backup or transer your stuff from an old device, tap 'Copy your data'. If you'd like a frest start, tap 'Set up as new'.
  8. From 'Sign in with your Google Account' screen, navigate: Skip > Skip.
    Note Once setup is complete, refer to Add an Existing Google Account or Create a New Google Account.
  9. From the 'Name' screen, enter the name then tap NEXT.
  10. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to enable or disable then tap I AGREE (may require scrolling to the bottom) to continue.
    Note Enabled when switch is in the on On icon position.
    • Help apps find your location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data
  11. From the 'Protect your Palm' screen, tap Not now then tap SKIP ANYWAY.
    Note Once setup is complete, refer to Set Up Screen lock or Set Up Face Recognition to configure Palm protection options.
  12. From the 'Virtual Navigation Keys' screen, select the desired option then click Next.
  13. From the 'Life Mode' screen, tap Skip.
    Note Once setup is complete, refer to Manage Do Not Disturb Settings to configure Life Mode.
  14. From the 'Text syncing with Message+' screen, tap Skip then tap OK.
  15. From the 'Ready to go!' screen, select an option to enter more info (i.e., My Verizon, Verizon Cloud.) or tap 'Got it!' to complete setup.
