Samsung Chromebook Plus - Add a Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. Next to Add connection, tap the Dropdown menu Dropdown icon
  3. Tap Add OpenVPN / L2TP.
  4. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap OK.
  5. From the 'Server hostname' field, enter the appropriate name.
    Note Contact the VPN admin for assistance with server info and credentials.
  6. From the 'Provider type' field, tap the Dropdown menu Dropdown icon (on the right) then select the VPN type:
    • L2P2/IPSec + pre-shared key
    • L2P2/IPSec + user credentials
    • Open VPN
  7. Enter the required info into the applicable fields then tap Connect (lower-right).
    Note If applicable, tap (check) Save identity and password to turn on Off indicator or off On indicator.
