Allow App Installation from Unknown Sources - HTC

Caution Your device and personal data are more vulnerable to threats such as Ransomware from apps downloaded from unknown sources. Here's some additional info about downloading from unknown sources and protecting your device against Ransomware.

Android® 8.x and higher

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap the Menu icon Apps icon (upper-right).
  4. Tap Configure apps.
  5. From the 'Advanced' section, tap Special app access.
  6. Tap Install unknown apps.
  7. Tap the desired app (e.g., Chrome, Gmail, Drive, etc.) then tap Allow from this source to turn on or off.

 

Android 7.x and below

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon.
  2. Tap Security.
  3. Tap Unknown sources to enable or disable.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
