Samsung Galaxy S10 - Set Up Fingerprint Recognition

Note Notes:

  • A fingerprint is utilized to unlock the device.
  • For the fingerprint scanner to operate, hands must be clean and free of moisture, dirt, oil, lotion, dyes, etc.
  • Up to 4 fingerprints can be registered on the device.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Biometrics and security.
  3. From the Biometrics section, tap Fingerprints.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. If presented, tap Continue and select a lock screen option (e.g., Pattern, PIN or Password) then follow the steps to complete the process.
    Note If necessary, refer to Set Up Screen Lock for assistance.
  5. If prompted, tap continue to register your fingerprint by swiping your fingertip down over the sensor to scan.
    Note View the on-screen tutorial for the location of the sensor and assistance.
    Note Repeat this step as necessary until the process is complete.
  6. Tap Done (lower-right).
  7. Tap the Fingerprint unlock switch to turn on Switch on or off Switch off.
