Google Pixel 3a - View / Restrict Data Usage by App

Caution Some apps depend upon background data (transferring data when not directly in use). Restricting background data may cause those apps to stop functioning unless a Wi-Fi connection is available.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to display all apps.
  2. Tap Settings Settings icon > Network & internet > Mobile network.
Note To see Wi-Fi data usage, follow these steps:
    • Navigate Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi.
    • Tap Wi-Fi data usage.
  3. Tap App data usage.
  4. Tap an app (located below the usage graph) then view the usage.
Note To restrict the app from using data in the background, tap the Background data switch to turn off Switch off.
  5. If presented, review the message then tap OK.
