Samsung Galaxy Note® Edge - Set Up SOS Messages

Note Notes:

  • SOS messages are also referred to as help messages.
  • In any emergency situation, you can send a message to an emergency contact by quickly pressing the power key 3 times.
  • A notice of your approximate location is sent to the mobile phone of a chosen contact.
  • Up to 4 emergency contacts can be registered on the device.


  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings Settings icon > Safety assistance.
    Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode.
  2. If presented, review the Terms and conditions then select (check) the agreement option and tap AGREE.
  3. From the 'Turn on Safety assistance' message, tap ADD.
    Note An emergency contact must be created for SOS messages to turn on.
  4. From the 'Add recipient' message, perform one of the following:
    Note To change the contact later, tap Manage emergency contacs then tap the Add icon Add icon or Delete icon Trash can icon.
    • To create a new emergency contact:
      1. Tap Create contact.
      2. Enter a name and 10-digit number.
      3. Tap SAVE.
    • To use an existing contact for the emergency contact:
      1. Tap Select from contacts.
      2. Tap the desired contact(s) to select (check).
      3. Tap DONE.
  5. Tap the Back icon Back icon (upper-left) to return to the 'Safety assistance' screen.
  6. Tap Send help messages.
  7. Tap the OFF switch Off switch to turn ON On switch (upper-right)
  8. Tap Send pictures to turn on or off.
    Note Message will include a snapshot taken by the front and rear camera.
  9. Tap Send sound recording to turn on or off.
    Note Message includes a 5-second audio recording.
