Activate / Set Up Device - Samsung Galaxy Tab™

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:


  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge) until the Verizon logo appears then release.
    Note If presented with a lock screen, swipe the lock right to unlock.
  2. Tap the appropriate language then tap Activate.
    Note Allow several seconds for activation to complete.
  3. Once your device is active and you see 4G in the upper right, tap Settings.
  4. Tap Verizon data.
  5. Tap Select service.
  6. Naviagate: Activate > Month to month > Activate (*228).
  7. Your device will complete network activation.
    Note Complete the following steps to set up as a Wi-Fi only device and bypass network activation:
    1. Press Volume up (located below the Power button) once.
    2. Press Volume down twice.
    3. Press Volume up three times.
    4. Press Volume down four times.
    5. Tap Skip.
  8. From the Google account screen, tap Skip.
  9. If presented with the Wi-Fi setup screen, tap Skip.
  10. From the account setup screen, tap Skip.
    Note If desired, select an existing service (e.g., Facebook, AOL, etc.) follow the on-screen instructions then tap Next.
  11. From the Location Services screen, tap the desired location options to enable or disable then tap Next.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • VZW location services
    • Standalone GPS services
    • Google location services
  12. If presented, review the disclaimer then tap Agree.
    Note Depending upon the option that was enabled, the disclaimer presented may vary.
  13. Tap Next.
  14. From the Backup Assistant screen, tap Skip.
    Note To set up after activating, navigate: Home > Backup Assistant.
  15. Tap OK.
  16. Tap Exit.
  17. Tap Begin.
