Apple® iPhone® 4 - Turn Notifications On / Off

Note Notes:

  • Since notifications pushed to your device are carried over cellular data, you may see a small amount of data usage even while connected to Wi-FI
  • For audio notifications, refer to Manage audio alerts.

Caution Turning on notifications may impact battery life.

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Notification Center.
  2. Tap the Notification view switch to turn on Switch on icon or off Settings icon.
  3. Tap the Today view switch to to turn on or off.
  4. Tap the desired Today view switches (e.g., Today Summary, etc) to turn on or off:
  5. Select the desired Notifications view option:
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Sort Manually
    • Sort By Time
  6. Tap the apps to include (e.g., Phone, Messages, etc.).
    Note Apps that have been turned off appear in the 'Do Not Include' section at bottom.
  7. If available, select the Alert Style (None, Banners, Alerts).
  8. If available, tap the following switches to turn on or off:
    • Badge App Icon
    • Show in Notification Center
      Note If turned on (checked), tap Include then select a setting (e.g., 1 recent item, etc.).
    • Show on Lock Screen
      Note When set to on, screen turns on when a notification or alert is received.
  9. If available, tap Alert Sound then configure the settings (Vibration, Ringtone, etc.) as preferred.
