Apple® iPhone® 4s - Turn Notifications On / Off

Note Notes:

  • Since notifications pushed to your device are carried over cellular data, you may see a small amount of cellular data usage even while connected to Wi-Fi.
  • For audio notifications, refer to Manage audio alerts.

Caution Turning on notifications may impact battery life.

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Notifications.
  2. From the Notifications View section, tap Sort Order then select one of the following options:
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Recent
    • Manual
      Note If selecting Manual, hold and drag the options into the preferred order.
  3. Tap Notifications (upper-left).
  4. If applicable, tap the Group By App switch to turn on or off.
  5. From the Notification Style section, tap an app.
  6. Configure the following options:
    Note Options are turned on Switch On or turned off Switch Off.
    Note Depending on the app selected, the options may vary.
    • Allow Notifications
    • Show in Notification Center
    • Badge App Icon
    • Show on Lock Screen
  7. If applicable, from the Alert Style When Unlocked section, select one of the following:
    • None
    • Banners
    • Alerts
  8. Tap Notifications (upper-left).
  9. From the Government Alerts section, turn the following on Switch On or off Switch Off:
    • AMBER Alerts
    • Emergency Alerts
