A factory data reset may help with a blank or frozen screen, apps crashing or freezing, keypad/touchscreen problems, can't hear, device making noises, can't make or receive calls, and device won't sync.
Perform a factory data reset only if absolutely necessary as it removes all settings and data including:
- Contacts
- Email accounts
- System and app data
- App settings
- Downloaded apps
- Media (It is recommended to backup this data)
Alternatively, music, pictures and videos can be backed up to a computer.
Notes:
- From a Home screen, tap Apps (located at the bottom).
- Tap Settings.
If the app icon is missing, tap App menu filter (located at the top) then tap All apps.

- Tap Factory Data Reset.
- Ensure Erase internal storage is selected (checked) then tap Reset phone.
If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.
- Tap Erase Everything.
Allow up to 10 minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
