Removing then re-adding your email often fixes login and not receiving email issues.
The Backup Assistant Plus Email (Sync and Connect) service was discontinued on 3/16/16.

From a home screen, tap Apps
(located at the bottom).

From the All Apps tab, tap Settings.

Tap Email or Email account.

Select the account.

Tap Menu
(located at the bottom).

Tap Remove account.
If unavailable, navigate: Apps > Email > Menu
> Settings > account > Remove account from a home screen.

Tap Remove account.
